Abstract

Voltage rise issues due to residential photovoltaic (PV) systems are not only because of reverse power flows. Most PV systems are single-phase installations and, therefore, can increase unbalance. This, in turn, can exacerbate voltage rise issues on certain phases. However, the extent to which unbalance affects the PV hosting capacity of low voltage (LV) distribution networks has not been adequately investigated. This paper studies the role of voltage unbalance in PV hosting capacity using both time-series analysis and Monte Carlo-based approach to account for the uncertainties of PV location and size. A rule-based power rebalancing algorithm that determines the phase connection of customers..
