Abstract
Purpose Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) is a common, painful, inflammatory condition of the oral mucosa. Due to the limited understanding of its pathophysiology, the management of OLP is challenging. In this research project, I aim to study the active role of apoptosis in OLP using in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies of OLP. Hypothesis and Aim The overarching hypothesis is that keratinocyte apoptosis plays a dynamic role in initiating and perpetuating inflammation in OLP.
