Abstract

Residential land use occupies the highest proportion of ground coverage in Dhaka city, thereby significantly influencing its urban natural environment. Multi-family apartment complexes occupy the largest share of housing supply, where real estate developers dominate. This essay examines how developers integrate blue and green landscape features within the design of apartment complexes and how they cumulatively shape Dhaka's urban nature. Web brochures of 100 apartment complexes in Dhaka's ten residential hubs-Banani, Baridhara, Bashundhara, Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Niketan, Shyamoli and Uttara-were examined.
