Abstract

This research note reviews claims that successful leaders will focus on planning from the outside in — that their reading of the external environments, together with their clear understanding of their own business and industry is critical to ensuring that those strategic decisions are the correct ones and that further, their vision and capacity to communicate the vision is important in aligning staff effort with corporate goals and targets.
