Abstract
The coordination chemistry of two novel asymmetric aminopolyalcohol ligands is explored. The ligands 3-[(2-hydroxyethyl)(methyl)amino]propan-1-ol (hmapH2) and 3-[(2-hydroxyethyl)(ethyl)amino]propan-1-ol (heapH2) were synthesised and differ from their symmetric analogues N-methyldiethanolamine (mdeaH2) and N-ethyldiethanolamine (edeaH2) by the addition of an extra carbon atom in one of the alcohol chains. Four new heterometallic 3d-4f complexes of formulae [CrIII2DyIII2(OMe)2(Benz)4(hmap)2(NO3)2] (1), [CrIII2DyIII2(OMe)2(Benz)4(heap)2(NO3)2] (2), [MnIII2DyIII2(O)(Benz)6(hmap)2]n (3) and [MnIII2GdIII2(O)(Piv)3(heap)2(NO3)4]·0.5MeOH·H2O (4) were synthesised and characterized by single crystal X..
