Abstract

Manganese oxide nanoparticles (MnOx NPs) are a versatile class of redox-active nanomaterials that are attracting increasing attention for applications in cancer diagnosis and therapy due to their exceptional properties such as high specific surface area, a high fraction of surface atoms, biocompatibility, and excellent redox properties. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of fundamental principles in the design, synthesis, and surface modification of MnOx-based NPs.
