Abstract

Virtual multiple optical ring network architecture for transporting Internet protocol (IP) traffic in metropolitan areas is proposed. The IP/wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) routers are interconnected using arrayed waveguide grating. Results showed that different light paths are followed by packets from a router depending on the destination.
