Abstract

The upper bound on the received optical power (ROP) at the baseband carrier-sense circuits (BCSCs) was theoretically evaluated and validated its results with experiment across four values of BCSC bandwidth. The results indicate that for the BCSC implementation, a high bandwidth increases the upper bound on the ROP, but the highest achievable upper bound value was constrain by the design of the front-end. The theoretical model thus provides an effective tool for the design of baseband optical CSMA/CA networks where maximum utilization of available transmission bandwidth was required.
