A new class of ternary cocyclic Hadamard codes

Abstract

We present a new construction for p-ary codes meeting the Plotkin bound, for any odd prime p, from any planar function on the additive group of GF(pa). We use the Coulter-Matthews planar functions with p = 3 to construct new families of ternary cocyclic codes, and compute their dimensions for a ≤ 6.
