Abstract
Conductive core-shell particles in the size regime of several hundred nanometers were prepared by first coating negatively charged monodisperse polystyrene (PS) latex spheres with a layer of polyethyleneimine (PEI). An electroless gold-plating step was carried out to yield high gold coverage resulting in a conductive gold shell. Results showed that particles could be selectively adsorbed onto areas functionalized with carboxyl groups through microcontact printing.
