Abstract

The focus of the book is on the aquatic biota, their interrelationships, and the physical and chemical factors which affect them. Information is drawn from the fields of geomorphology, hydrology and fluid mechanics, and examples given to highlight the information of biological relevance. Chapters provide background information on statistical sampling, field techniques, description of stream networks, the hydrodynamics of moving water, channel form and sediment movement, and statistical methods such as flood frequency analysis.
