Abstract
The spectra changes induced by the incorporation of gold nanoparticles (NPs) in opals of polyelectrolyte-coated spheres were investigated. Thin opal films were crystallized from core-shell polystyrene (PS) beads. The correlation between the loading of the Au NPs with changes of the diffraction resonance was revealed partly because diffraction and plasmon resonances do not overlap. The angular dispersion of the diffraction resonance is sufficiently squeezed as compared to the bare opal.
