Abstract
This paper outlines the results from an experimental program carried out to study the ductility of slabs constructed with Grade 500, class L steel mesh. The emphasis is on determining the detrimental effects of any possible support settlement on the load carrying capacity and ductility of suspended slabs constructed with class L steel. The results are presented here from the first experiment on a two-span, full-scale one-way slab. A comparison is, also, presented of the theoretical and experimental results. © Institute of Materials Engineering Australasia Ltd 2005.
