Abstract

Structural damage causes changes in structural dynamic characteristics. These changes are characterized by changes in frequency response functions (FRFs) and modal properties of the structure. In this paper, damage identification and condition assessment of a RC T-beam structural element is conducted by directly using noisy experimental vibration response data in the frequency domain. First, the Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) is performed on vibration response data obtained from the damaged and undamaged T-beam in order to determine the FFT spectra, FRFs, coherence and phase information at each measurement grid point. Then, the relative damage indices (RDI) derived from shifts in resonanc..
