Fertility preservation in children newly diagnosed with cancer: Existing standards of practice in Australia and New Zealand

Abstract

Objective: To establish the extent to which sperm, oocyte and gonadal tissue collection and storage is offered to children newly diagnosed with cancer. Design, participants and setting: A cross-sectional survey of all paediatric oncology services in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) in December 2005. Main outcome measures: Sperm, oocyte and gonadal tissue collection and storage practices at paediatric oncology services; comparisons with recently published North American practices and with current recommendations for best practice.
