The preliminary study described in this paper has developed a simple model for predicting the mass - impact velocity combinations required to fail square panels made of annealed glass, or laminated glass. These predictions are based on extrapolating results from limited static testing of glazing specimens by the authors. Research is continuing to conduct further testings involving larger number of specimens and to identify limitations of the proposed model based on impact testing and dynamic simulations. © 2007 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
