Abstract

Parastylochus astis is redescribed on the basis of the type specimen and new specimens from Broome, Western Australia and Ile des Pins, New Caledonia. The redescription shows that that a ductus vaginalis, connecting the vagina with the female antrum, is present, but has not previously been described. The genus Parastylochus is transferred from its current position in the Stylochinae Laidlaw, 1903 to the Cryptophallinae Bresslau, 1933 on the basis of the presence of a ductus vaginalis. © 2006, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
