Abstract

More than 2500 undergraduate chemical engineering students in 15 universities in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam were surveyed on the industries that they would like to work in on completion of their degrees. In general the popularity of the individual industrial sectors varied considerably between countries and in several instances between institutions in the same country. In 10 of the 15 institutions the bioprocess engineering sectors including biotechnology, pharmacology, biomedical engineering and the food and beverage industries attracted the largest proportion of first preferences. © 2006 The Institution of Chemical Engineers.
