Abstract
Single system image (SSI), the property of the operating system that hides the hetrogenity and distributed nature of resources ia addressed. It presents the resources to the user and the applications as single unified computing resources. It is obtained by the cooperation between hardware, middleware and application, levels as a commomn level that simplifies the implementation of a higher one. It presents multiple cooperative components of the application as a single application to the end users. The advantages and disadvantages of each level are discussed.
