Abstract
Recently there has been an increase in studies pursuing a clearer understanding of the large-scale behaviour of wall-turbulence at high Reynolds numbers. These studies typically involve the analysis of a variety of statistics and correlations. In this paper, we investigate two-point cross-correlations of wall shear stress with various velocity components. These correlations have been calculated from two data sets: the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of a turbulent channel flow by Del Álamo, Jiménez, Zandonade & Moser [2]; and experimental data from an extremely high Reynolds number atmospheric boundary layer, obtained from the SLTEST (Surface Layer Turbulence and Environmental Science Test..
