A high-performance PON system for both access and local networking using wavelength-switchable transceivers

We propose a new PON architecture where both access and local networking services are enabled using wavelength-switchable transceivers. Simulation shows that available bandwidth is nearly doubled with fast wavelength switching and delay is drastically improved. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
