THE CONTRIBUTION OF AUSTRALIAN ECONOMISTS: THE RECORD AND THE BARRIERS
Economic Papers | Wiley | Published : 2007
This paper documents and assesses the contribution of Australian economists to policy and world-changing actions over the last forty years. The distinctive features that economists offer to policy debates are identified. By comparison with Max Corden's assessment nearly forty years ago, economists have increased the relative importance of their role, but barriers to a fuller contribution remain. Suggestions are made as to how to enhance this contribution.
