Abstract
Many failures have been reported in the live and dead end anchors of post-tensioned (PT) slabs during the post-tensioning process, prompting a closer study of the behaviour of anchorage zone in concrete. The aim of experimental work conducted at the University of Melbourne on beam-end specimens was to establish the failure modes of the dead-end anchors in slabs at early ages (4-7 days). Pullout tests were conducted on six beam-end specimens cured under the standard laboratory temperature of 23°C. Two of the specimens were tested to assess the bond strength of strand without the dead-end anchors (onion). Specimens were tested at 4,14 and 21 days age in an attempt to measure the level of strai..
