Physiotherapy education and practice in Australia

Abstract

Australia has more than 100 years of physiotherapy university education. In 2008, baccalaureate and graduate entry programs are available in 14 universities. The universities set general standards of education. Additionally physiotherapy programs must meet the Australian Physiotherapy Council requirements before programs are accredited and their graduates are eligible for registration to practice. Academic and clinical physiotherapists have contributed to the development of these national standards and work collaboratively in the delivery of educational programs.
