When poststructuralism meets gender

Abstract

This chapter is motivated by a desire to understand the historicity and effects of the poststructural moment and specifically to understand that moment in relation to research in education, a field characterized by an engagement in theory and practice as well as by policy making and implementation. I am concerned, in particular, with exploring the influence of certain poststructuralist ideas on the direction and goals of feminist and progressive education reforms in Australian schools, and the impact of these reforms on the governing of children’s subjectivity.
