Does the direction of clinical research reflect clinical practice? Trends in neurorehabilitation

Abstract

The past 10 years has seen an explosion in the number of clinical trials and experiments in line with the push towards an evidence-based practice approach to rehabilitation. Concurrently, changes to health-care funding have led to shorter lengths of hospital stay and restricted access to services. There is therefore mounting pressure for clinical research to help identify interventions that deliver optimal outcomes in a time and cost-efficient way.
