Abstract
Simulation tools play an essential role in the evaluation of emerging peer-to-peer, computing, service, and content delivery networks. Given the scale, complexity, and operational costs of such networks, it is often impossible to analyze the low-level performance, or the effect of new scheduling, replication, and organizational algorithms on actual test-beds. As such, practitioners turn to simulation tools to allow them to rapidly evaluate the efficiency, performance, and reliability of new algorithms on large topologies before considering their implementation on test-beds and production systems.
