Abstract
This chapter discusses the scientific evidence for the anticariogenic activity of casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) nanocomplexes. The chapter starts by introducing dental caries (tooth decay) and then presents the ultrastructure of the CPP-ACP nanocomplex. It then presents a detailed review of the scientific literature describing the anticariogenic activity of CPP-ACP and mechanisms of action. The chapter concludes with recommendations for clinical use of the CPP-ACP. © 2009 Woodhead Publishing Limited All rights reserved.
