Abstract

The non-destructive three-dimensional images of the effect of refractive index change within a fiber Bragg grating was recorded by using the differential interference contrast imaging technique. The imaging technique yielded qualitative three-dimensional information of refractive index changes throughout the core of the fiber. The results showed that the refractive index change indicated by the images is highly non-uniform.
