Abstract
Single, normal hot-wire measurements of the streamwise velocity, u, of a fully developed, turbulent channel and pipe flow for friction Reynolds numbers up to Re τ= 3000 are presented. Measurement spatial resoluiton was held constant by maintaining a viscous scaled sensor length of l + ≈ 22 (= lU τ/νwhere l is wire length, U τ is friction velocity and U ν is the kinematic viscosity).
