Abstract

The Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly (IQCODE) is a brief instrument to assess an individual's change in cognition in the last ten years based on an informant's report. It is suitable for use in clinical settings as well as in large scale epidemiological studies This chapter summarises the development of the IQCODE and the evidence demonstrating that it is a valid and reliable instrument whose psychometric properties compare well with those of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), which is the most widely used cognitive screening instrument.
