Laser stapedotomy under local anaesthesia with sedation: A series of 66 cases

Abstract

Objectives: To assess patient tolerance and audiological results, in a series of patients undergoing stapedotomy under local anaesthesia with sedation, utilising the Argon or KTP laser. Materials: Prospective audit of 66 stapedotomies performed in 59 patients. Data collected included: incidence of post-operative nausea and disequilibrium, requirement for post-operative antiemetic medication, duration of hospital admission and audiological results.
