Optimal pole placement with Moore's algorithm

In this paper we consider the classic Moore eigenstructure assignment algorithm and adapt it for problems of optimal pole placement. We introduce an unconstrained nonlinear optimization algorithm to obtain a gain matrix that delivers robust pole placement or minimum gain. We introduce a MATLAB® routine to implement the algorithm, and compare its performance against other pole placement methods from the literature. © 2011 ENGINEERS AUSTRALIA & AUSTRALIAN OPTICAL.
