Abstract
Atrial tachycardia is a generic term for a range of tachyarrhythmias with their origin in the atria. These can be broadly divided by mechanism into macro-reentrant, focal and small circuit re-entry. " Atrial flutter" is a term which, today, should be restricted to those classical circuits around the tricuspid annulus dependent on the cavo-tricuspid isthmus. The advent of sophisticated mapping solutions has rendered the vast majority of these atrial circuits curable with catheter ablation, with high success rates and very low incidence of complications. © 2012 Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS) and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CS..
