Abstract
The recently occurred mud eruption in Elagiri region, Tamil Nadu appreciably signifies the active tectonic movements along N-S trending lineament systems in South Indian peninsular shield. Such mud eruption warrants further detailed studies in the context of active tectonics and mid-plate seismicities in this area.
