Hybridomas and monoclonal antibodies: Applications in oncology

Abstract

The fusion of individual lymphocyte and myeloma cells to produce a hybridoma has led to the production of monoclonal antibodies. These highly specific reagents are now being used to define tumour associated antigens - important for the diagnosis, localization and treatment of cancer.
