Abstract
The focus of this paper is the design treatment of cold-formed sections in North American and Australian Standards; as usage of cold-formed steel structures are increasing in these regions.A comprehensive literature reviewthat relates to the experiments performed in this area of research. The literature provides valuable context to draw conclusions and determine the need for this specific research which are addressed as follow: Firstly, existing design standards for cold-formed steel do not include any inelastic reserve capacity for coldformed channel sections with edge stiffener which is unduly conservative. Secondly, the plastic design method is based on studies for hot-rolled steel and con..
