Abstract

Professor Emeritus Nancy Millis AC, MBE, FAA, FTSE died on 29 September 2012 at the age of 90. She was one of the first women to be appointed Professor at the University of Melbourne, had been President of the Australian Society for Microbiology and after her retirement was Chancellor at La Trobe University. Nancy introduced the teaching of Industrial Microbiology into Australia and by her research and involvement with various organizations promoted a continuing analysis of water utilization and the environment.
