We experimentally demonstrate enhanced propulsion of polystyrene and gold particles by surface plasmon polaritons on gold stripes. The largest propulsion velocity enhancement, relative to total internal reflection, is measured to be 5 for polystyrene particles. © 2009 Optical Society of America.
