Nanoparticle manipulation with optical forces from surface plasmon polaritons on gold stripes

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate enhanced propulsion of polystyrene and gold particles by surface plasmon polaritons on gold stripes. The largest propulsion velocity enhancement, relative to total internal reflection, is measured to be 5 for polystyrene particles. © 2009 Optical Society of America.
