Optical trapping using planar silicon micro-ring resonators

Abstract

We demonstrate optical trapping with a micro-ring resonator, the first experimental demonstration to the best of our knowledge. Optical resonance enhancement effect leads to fivefold optical force increase compared to waveguide trapping. © 2009 Optical Society of America.
