Abstract

Microfabricated optical tweezers are reviewed. Fresnel zone plates are shown to offer comparable performance to traditional optical tweezers, when diffraction efficiency is taken into account. We demonstrate the manipulation of nanoparticles using surface plasmon polaritons. © 2009 Optical Society of America.
