Abstract
The clinical genetics of epilepsy is a rapidly advancing field, which moves forward hand-in-hand with molecular genetic studies. The roles of clinical genetic research include identification of new genetic syndromes, building and refining the classification of epilepsies, understanding the genetic architecture of the epilepsies, guiding the selection of clinical samples for molecular genetic studies, and genotype-phenotype correlation. Perhaps, surprisingly to some, the role of clinical genetics and phenotyping has increased rather than decreased with the molecular genetic revolution. The field provides exciting opportunities for clinical researchers, particularly those who enjoy collaborati..
