Role of 18FDG-positron emission tomography scanning in the management of histiocytosis

Abstract

Diagnostic evaluation of histiocytic malignancies often involves a range of imaginq studies to characterize skeletal and extraskeletal sites of involvement. Functional imaging with 18FDG PET provides a potential method for non-invasively detecting active disease. We report two cases where this modality was positive and facilitated therapeutic monitoring.
