Abstract

The detection of bone metastases in a patient with cancer will alter the treatment plan. It allows for appropriate measures to be taken to prevent complications and improve quality of life. Apart from a pathological diagnosis, radiological diagnosis is the most common approach to locating metastatic spread. The utilization of imaging modalities depends on many factors such as accuracy, timing, cost-effectiveness and availability. This chapter summarizes the recommended imaging techniques for specific malignancies.
