Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD), the leading cause of dementia in the elderly, is an irreversible, progressive neurodegenerative disorder clinically characterized by memory loss and cognitive decline [1], leading invariably to death, usually within 7-10 years after diagnosis. The dominant risk factor for sporadic AD is increasing age. © 2007 Springer-Verlag London Limited.
