Abstract
Digital images combined with computer aided diagnosis techniques offer dermatologists a simple, robust, objective and portable means for assessing many kinds of dermatological conditions. Some of the conditions that are amenable to computer aided diagnosis include acne, psoriasis and rosacea. Computer aided diagnosis can act as an external reference point to verify clinicians’ diagnoses or can act as another input to the diagnosis making process. In this chapter we examine machine-learning methods for the computer aided diagnosis of psoriasis severity by developing an algorithm for the analysis of psoriasis severity. Psoriatic lesions are analysed by first segmenting erythema, the inflamed r..
