Abstract
This paper describes two aspects of Alveo, a new virtual laboratory for human communication science (HCS). As a platform for HCS researchers, the integration of the Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) with Alveo was one of the aims during the development phase and we report on the choices that were made for the implementation. User acceptance testing (UAT) constituted an integral part of the development and evolution of Alveo and we present the distributed testing organisation, the test development process and the evolution of the tests.
