Abstract

There has been relatively little research to date on the factors affecting the speciation, distribution and ultimate fate of organic chemicals, including biocides in natural aquatic systems. This paper is one of a series aimed at increasing the understanding of factors effecting biocide speciation in natural water systems. In this paper we report the results of experiments designed to identify the main factors affecting sorption of glyphosate by goethite which was used as a surrogate for natural suspended particulate matter (SPM). Sorption experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of pH, glyphosate concentration and the type and concentration of both the soluble and adsorbed natur..
