Abstract

The usually wrought alloy 2618 was semisolid processed via the rheocasting route using a batch type mechanical stirring unit and various processing conditions. Two types of experiments were conducted: those employing natural continuous cooling, and those where isothermal stirring was attempted. Resulting microstructures were examined in great detail using methods of optical microscopy and image analysis.
