Abstract

Examined the Tennessee Self Concept Scale for cultural and sex differences with 101 men and 101 women. Data indicated that Fitts' (1965) claim of generalizability of normed data across cultures was not supported. Significant differences were noted according to sex of respondent. Factor analysis of subscale data indicated two general factors present, which questions the validity of certain clinical uses and interpretations of the validity of cerain clinical uses nad interpretations of the Scale.
